About Farmworkers

Agriculture is a key part of Florida's economy. The University of Florida, the state's land-grant institution, houses the Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (IFAS), a leading agricultural school in the U.S. The George A. Smathers Libraries supports IFAS mission by collecting and creating materials on farmworker history. Our collections include the COVID-19 Florida Farmworkers Collection and the Farmworkers Collection. Another example is the IMLS National Leadership Project “Planning Collaborative Practices for Archiving Farmworker Communities’ Histories.”
