The Parkman Dexter Howe Library contains books, manuscripts and ephemera by New England authors from the colonial period to the middle of the twentieth century. The collection is particularly strong in the poetry and periodical literature of the nineteenth century, and includes autograph and manuscript material from a number of its authors. In 1980, following Parkman Dexter Howe's death, the University of Florida Libraries acquired the collection. It is now part of the Harold and Mary Jean Hanson Rare Book Collection
The current digitized selection represents a small number of the autograph poems and literary works. The most detailed descriptions of the entire collection can be found in the printed catalogue, The Parkman Dexter Howe Library (10 vols, University of Florida Press: 1983-1994), which is digitally available here.
